Vice President for Academic Affairs

Siena Heights University
(www.sienaheights.edu), a private, Catholic university located in Adrian, Michigan, seeks nominations and applications for the position of Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA). Reporting to the President, the VPAA serves as the chief academic officer of the University and is a member of the President's Cabinet. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the academic deans, faculty, staff, and students to advance the mission, vision, and strategic goals of the University. They will also represent the University to external stakeholders, such as accrediting agencies, government entities, industry partners, and community organizations.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A terminal degree in a relevant discipline from an accredited institution;
  • A deep understanding of the Catholic intellectual tradition, Catholic social teaching, and the Dominican charism;
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and a desire to support the University's aspiration to become a Hispanic Serving Institution;
  • A capacity to lead innovation in academic programs, curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, and technology;
  • A record of accomplishment in promoting enrollment growth, student retention, faculty development, academic quality, and research productivity;
  • A strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills; and
  • A high level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.

    The VPAA is expected to embody and promote the mission of Siena Heights University, which is "to assist people to become more competent, purposeful, and ethical through a teaching and learning environment which respects the dignity of all." The successful candidate will be able to support the Catholic and Dominican mission and identity of the University, which are inspired by the life and teachings of St. Catherine of Siena.

    Founded in 1919 and sponsored by the Adrian Dominican Sisters, Siena Heights is a Catholic university offering more than 50 undergraduate and graduate programs in arts, sciences, business, nursing, education, engineering, and more.
