Job Description:

Madison College in Madison, Wisconsin, invites applicants for the position of Provost. This position provides leadership, vision, and management oversight to Academic Affairs, inclusive of the College's credit and non-credit academic enterprises. The Provost is responsible for academic strategy and operations. The Provost ensures the academic integrity of the College and supports innovations in the academic portfolio, talent management and workforce development. The Provost is a champion of the mission of the College and as such, is responsible to students and employees across the District. The Provost represents the College to the public as well as to internal college stakeholders.

This position serves as a member of the President's Cabinet and reports directly to the President.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Provides leadership and vision to ensure the academic portfolio is as relevant and responsive as possible to meet the workforce needs of the District. Lead efforts to analyze, develop and strengthen new and existing developmental, dual credit, occupational and transfer programs leading to credentials ranging from micro-credentials to certificates to Associate Degrees, including transfer and post-baccalaureate options at all campus locations throughout the District, anticipating emerging workforce needs as well as additional revenue-generating opportunities.
  • An advocate for all academic programs, the Provost provides leadership to faculty and academic staff to ensure consistent quality standards in curriculum and programs meet the needs of students. This key strategic leader oversees the academic integrity of the college and provides leadership in long-range planning and assessment, budgeting, curriculum, and program development in the academic areas.
  • Provides leadership and vision to ensure the academic portfolio is as relevant and responsive as possible to meet the workforce needs of the District. Lead efforts to analyze, develop and strengthen new and existing programs, occupational and transfer programs leading to credentials ranging from micro-credentials to certificates to Associate Degrees, including transfer and post-baccalaureate options at all campus locations throughout the District.
  • Works with academic leadership to establish priorities for the development of the Academic Plan which frames academic school and unit plans, inclusive of operational and capital budgets. Academic plans reflect the College's strategic direction and are routinely monitored, assessed, and adjusted.
  • Leads college efforts to promote and sustain a rigorous and compassionate learning centered environment that focuses on equitable student success through collaborative decision making and planning. This includes participation in Shared Governance councils and leadership of major college initiatives related to student success.
  • Responsible for the strategic and efficient organizational design and staffing of Academic Affairs, including all Schools and unit; leads future focused organizational design strategies that reflect the future of education, work, and transfer.
  • Oversees the faculty experience for both full and part-time faculty, including workload system, academic technology support, curriculum development, and faculty professional development. Supports the Institute for Equity and Transformational Change to drive equity and inclusion into academic design and delivery and creates an inclusive environment to help ensure a diverse and representative population of faculty, staff and academic leaders who represent the demographic make-up of the student body.
  • Develops and maintains internal and external relationships with others, founded on respect and clarity of purpose; represents the College on external committees and Boards, advocacy groups, and/or other related groups. Enhances district relationship with the Wisconsin Technical College System by collaborating with other districts on system-wide cooperative efforts and serves on the Wisconsin Instructional Service Administrators' (ISA) team.
  • Attends Board of Trustees meetings and committee meetings and at the request of the President presents information directly to the Board of Trustees.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education Level: Master's Degree, Doctorate Degree preferred.

Work Experience:

Four years of experience as an academic dean or higher.

AND

2 years of full-time teaching experience in a post-secondary institution.
