CATEGORICALLY FUNDED - POSITION CONTINGENT ON CONTINUED FUNDING AND BOARD APPROVAL

Yuba College is seeking an equity-minded, dynamic, collaborative, and innovative leader to serve as Dean of Student Success.

BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Vice President of Student Services, the Dean of Student Success is responsible for providing leadership in the ongoing development and implementation of programs and initiatives that support student success, equity, engagement, retention and completion. The Dean oversees assigned programs and services, including but not limited to: CalWorks, EOPS/CARE, TRIO, MESA, Basic Needs, Campus Life, and Student Marketing and Engagement, and services for additional designated populations. The Dean oversees student clubs and the student government, manages assigned student grievances, and supervises the services, personnel and facilities comprising the areas of responsibility.

Essential Duties Summary:
DUTIES:
  • Develop, implement and supervise comprehensive Basic Needs services that address housing, food, physical and mental health, transportation, financial insecurity and other emerging basic needs.
  • Oversee the Student Government, working closely with staff and/or faculty charged with advising the Associated Students, clubs and campus life activities; and supervise and coordinate efforts with Campus Life and Student Engagement and Marketing staff.
  • Supervise the directors of assigned programs, including EOPS/CARE and CalWORKs, TRIO, and MESA.
  • Develop and implement additional services for special populations, including new and emerging student groups.
  • Lead the development and implementation of support services for areas of interest and coordinate wrap-around student services within student success teams.
  • Manage and facilitate assigned student grievances and petitions.
  • Provide leadership in the ongoing development and implementation of the Yuba College Student Equity Plan.
  • Develop, implement and manage external resources and partnerships, including local, state and federal grants, agreements for services and other collaborations that support student success.
  • Coordinate and evaluate Program Review, Student Learning Outcomes, Academic Planning, Accreditation, and Budget Development processes associated with assigned departments and areas.
  • Develop, direct, coordinate, supervise, and evaluate the programs, personnel, operations, and activities of assigned departments and areas-including program planning, analysis, and review-to ensure compliance with Education Code, state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, district policies, and all contractual agreements between the Governing Board and recognized bargaining units.
  • Participate as a regular member of the management group, attending and chairing committees and councils as assigned.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

  • Relate effectively to people of varied academic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds using tact, diplomacy and courtesy
  • Effectively supervise and support categorical student services units


Required Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate, by the final filing date, must possess the minimum qualifications for Educational Administrators at California Community Colleges: (All degrees and units used to satisfy minimum qualifications must be from accredited institutions.)

  • Possession of a Masters degree; AND
  • One year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrators administrative assignment.



FOREIGN TRANSCRIPTS: Include a U.S. evaluation and translation. Contact the Human Resources website for a list of agencies providing foreign transcript services.

WORK DAY, WORK WEEK, and WORK YEAR: The District has the right to establish work day, work week, work year; hours of positions within the District may vary.

In accordance to Board Policy, smoking is restricted in many areas of the Yuba Community College District.

Range/Step: Range 37, Management Salary Schedule

Salary Range: $103,255 - $119,851 PER YEAR

BENEFITS:
The District offers a comprehensive benefits package for employees and dependents, for positions whose FTE is .60 or higher, valued at over $24,273 annually with currently no out-of-pocket expenses to employees or dependents for medical premiums.

The package includes health, dental, vision, two (2) life insurance policies and an Employee Assistance program. Additional benefits include contributions to the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) which is integrated with Social Security OR the State Teachers Retirement System (STRS), 457/403b options, 22 vacation days, 3 Administrative days, 3 Nonduty days, 2 Floating Holidays, 12 sick days and 19 holidays.
