The Assistant Director, Post-Secondary Student Programs will support both the Associate Director of 4-Year and Graduate Programs and the Associate Director of Community College Pathways and will serve a crucial role in the implementation of programs and initiatives tailored to students enrolled in community college, 4-year, and graduate programs of study in Computer Science and tech-adjacent fields. The Assistant Director supports the development of meaningful experiential learning opportunities, assists in the development of programs focused on the transition of learners from 2- to 4-year programs, and identifies opportunities for students' professional growth and connection into the Chicago tech community. The designated supervisor of this position is the Associate Director, 4-Year and Graduate Programs. In addition, the Assistant Director, Post-Secondary Programs is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of programs that successfully support students on their educational journey into computer science and tech fields of study, and that offer students real-world experiences aligned with their academic and career goals. This position will collaborate with internal staff, academic partners including community colleges and four-year institutions, industry partners, and students to ensure the success of these programs.


Additional responsibilities include:

- Support the Associate Director of 4-Year and Graduate Programs and the Associate Director of Community College Pathways in the strategy and program operations for community college, 4-year, and graduate students.
- Support the day-to-day implementation of community college, 4-year, and graduate student programs including managing event logistics in-person or virtually. Programs may encompass internships, workshops, networking events, mentorship activities, employer-driven capstone projects, and other work-based experiences designed to connect students with employers.
- Support community college, 4-year, and graduate students enrolled in DPI programming, with attention to student needs and challenges, maintaining student contact, and building student rapport to ensure successful completion of program goals.
- Work closely with relevant academic partners across the University of Illinois System, other DPI university partners, the City Colleges of Chicago, and other educational partners to promote program implementation and partnership advancement and achieve shared impact.
- Work closely with DPI's Community Education, Pritzker Tech Talent Labs, and R&D teams to identify and capitalize on opportunities for impactful and aligned partnerships and synergies.
- Work collaboratively across the Community Education Unit team to promote student matriculation from one program to another.
- Assist in tracking and measuring the outcomes and reach of program efforts, providing valuable data for improvement and expansion.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in a field related to the position required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the implementation of student programming, preferably in higher education, adult education, experiential learning, or career services.
- Experience working with undergraduate and graduate students, particularly students from underserved backgrounds.
- Understanding of internship best practices and experiential learning models.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, emotional intelligence, and collaboration aptitude, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and industry partners.
- Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze program outcomes and make data-informed decisions.
- Demonstrated leadership and project management skills.
- Demonstrated personal commitment to promoting and advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.
