The mission of the Fielding School of Public Health (FSPH) is to build health and equity, and to drive positive change for all people. FSPH serves our local communities, and the world, by training future leaders and health professionals from diverse backgrounds, conducting innovative research and translating research into policy and practice. FSPH is at the forefront of today's most pressing public health issues reckoning with the impact of climate change on affordable housing, the consequences of the global COVID-19 pandemic and the effects of structural racism. If you are driven by ambitious objectives and raising the funds to make an impact on the very best in public health, UCLA is seeking a dedicated and driven Assistant Dean for Development and Alumni Affairs.

As a member of the FSPH leadership team and the UCLA Health Sciences Development team, you will manage a team of advancement professionals, providing leadership, strategy, implementation and evaluation of a comprehensive development program. Working with the Dean, you will define school priorities and establish goals and objectives for philanthropic initiatives that promote health and well-being in in ways that are innovative, respectful and inclusive. You will provide advice and guidance to the Dean and faculty on prospects and donors and will personally identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major and principal gifts. Operating with a high-level of autonomy, manage the Campus External Affairs and the FSPH External Affairs budgets; provide analysis of fundraising results and strategies; and work collaboratively with FSPH and External Affairs offices to integrate the School's Development efforts with those across campus.

Ideal candidates will have demonstrated proficiency in the principles and practices of fund-raising, preferably in a higher education, public health or health sciences setting with at least seven or more years of experience with increasing management responsibility in fundraising or a related field. You will bring to this role proven skill, experience and success in managing comprehensive and complex advancement or comparable programs emphasizing solicitations similar in nature, level and complexity. You will have excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship management skills combined with the ability lead staff in the accomplishment of goals. You also bring to this role strong supervisory, budgetary and administrative management skills. In addition, your prior experiences will include roles that have developed and expanded your ability to deal with complex issues such as those, which arise from the elaborate interrelationships among the FSPH, its five departments, its research centers, and the University.
