Major Duties

Under general supervision, the Academic Personnel Analyst reports to the Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs and is responsible for managing all human resource issues related to department chair appointments, faculty hiring, including collecting, processing, and interpreting Federal and State immigration forms for faculty and visiting scholars. The incumbent provides support and guidance to department chairs and faculty on issues related to faculty hiring.

Functions as an advisor to the Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs and the Deans regarding faculty hiring issues and manages and tracks faculty hiring across the campus.

Advises departments and colleges on search and screen procedures for faculty hires through workshops and informal contacts.

Maintains the confidential files related to faculty hiring and monitors compliance with Federal, State, CSU, and CSUN regulations and policies.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university. Master's degree preferred.

Equivalent to three years of full-time, progressively responsible professional/technical experience in job related field.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Thorough knowledge of state and federal employment laws, rules, regulations, and collective bargaining procedures.

Ability and specialized skills to: communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, faculty, and others; work independently and plan day-to-day activities.

Ability to make complex mathematical calculations; quickly learn, interpret, and apply multiple and complex rules, regulations, policies and procedures, and collective bargaining agreements; independently apply judgment and identify, research, analyze, and resolve problems; and create complex Excel spreadsheets that incorporate mathematical formulas. Work well under pressure and in constantly changing circumstances; and interact with personnel in a highly professional manner.

Ability to work with a population from diverse backgrounds, including faculty members, students, staff members, alumni, members of the general public, senior University officials, and persons in senior positions outside the University. Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

Classification / grade: 1176 / PSL II / 2

The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $4464 - $5800 dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $4464 - $9514 per month.

HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday.

REG: This is a Regular position with a two-year probationary period.
