Job Description:

SUNY Orange is currently seeking a full-time Coordinator of CSTEP.

The Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) is a grant-funded program through the New York State Education Department. The mission of CSTEP is to increase the number of students from under-represented groups who are pursuing professional licensure and careers in mathematics, science, technology and health-related fields. CSTEP at SUNY Orange is currently funded to support 90 students achieve this mission by providing the necessary resources and support to this group of students.

SUNY Orange CSTEP is looking for a responsible, enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and creative team member to work with our Director to meet program goals. The CSTEP Coordinator will work extensively with CSTEP students, offering personalized mentoring, sound academic and career advising, organizing and supervising program activities, recruiting potential CSTEP students, confirming student eligibility for entrance to the program, maintaining accurate student records, and fostering community building among students.

The Coordinator of CSTEP will also collaborate with faculty and staff on campus to coordinate academic support programming, career planning, research and internship experiences, and academic enrichment. This position will assist the Program Director with budget management and all state reporting.

This position will require travel between the college's Middletown and Newburgh campuses and other sites as needed.

The work schedule of the Coordinator of CSTEP will require occasional evening and weekend hours and chaperoning of some day and overnight program field-trips.


Requirements:

Education Required:
Bachelor's degree

Experience Required: One (1) to three (3) years of experience with grant-funded program administration and support. Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:
  • Knowledge of the characteristics and best practices that support successful passage through the STEM education pipeline is highly desirable.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and familiarity with the use of technology, including social media for the purpose of communication.
  • Ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationships with supervising personnel, co-workers, all college employees and the public.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Bilingual skills.

Salary: $48,075-$62,348 per annum, commensurate with experience. This is a full-time, 12 month, Staff & Chair, Grade 40 position.
