Barrett, The Honors College, is seeking an Associate Dean for Barrett on the Downtown Phoenix Campus. The Associate Dean provides strategic leadership for the Downtown Barrett campus and is responsible for delivering a high-impact, high-value, and innovative honors experience for Downtown Barrett students. The Associate Dean is also a key member of the Barrett leadership team, collaborating with the deans to shape and advance college-level initiatives and priorities as well as building the framework for Barrett in multiple locations.

We welcome applications from faculty across ASU as well as at other institutions. The administrative responsibilities for this role will be 0.5FTE; an internal candidate would be expected to maintain a 0.5 FTE appointment in their home academic unit, while an external candidate would have an additional 0.5 FTE of other responsibilities in Barrett.

Primary duties include:
  • Provide leadership and support for the Barrett staff, faculty, and students at the Downtown campus, including direct supervision of at least one staff position Follow college-wide initiatives, processes, and practices to ensure a consistent high-quality Barrett experience across campuses
  • Continue to articulate the identity of and priorities for Barrett Downtown, reflecting the specific needs and characteristics of that community while also aligning with the college mission and values
  • Oversee annual budget in line with strategic priorities of the college and the Barrett Downtown community
  • Coordinate with ASU and Barrett recruitment and admissions teams to continue to build the Barrett Downtown community
  • Collaborate with Downtown colleges, leadership, and faculty to develop and refine course offerings, programs, support, and opportunities for Barrett Downtown students
  • Assess honors student enrollment, retention, and success at the campus as well as the impact of the Barrett Downtown experience, and implement changes based on those assessments
  • Collaborate with external partners (businesses, state and local government, other institutions, etc.) to develop and continue professional development opportunities for Barrett Downtown students
  • Communicate with current and prospective students and their families about the Barrett Downtown experience
  • Work closely with the deans and faculty chair, actively participate on the Barrett leadership team, and represent the college on committees and at events
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications
Required qualifications:
  • Terminal degree in field of specialty and qualifications commensurate with a tenured associate or full professor position
  • Outstanding skills in communication and collaboration
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing the values of the ASU Charter

Desired qualifications:
  • Experience with honors students or honors education
  • Higher education leadership experience
  • Understanding of the Downtown campus and/or its academic disciplines
  • Experience with staff supervision
