Job Description:

SUNY Orange is currently seeking a Coordinator of Advising and Veteran Services to join the Advising Department.

Reporting to the Director of Academic Advising and under the lead direction of the Testing Center Manager, the Coordinator of Advising and Veteran Services will assist with maintaining the daily operations of the reception area within the Academic Advising Office. This will include supporting and coordinating staff coverage in the Academic Advising reception area, while also serving as the College's primary Veteran Certifying Official. The Coordinator of Advising and Veteran Services will advise prospective applicants, students, and/or families on veteran and military educational benefit information and provide referrals as needed. The Coordinator of Advising and Veteran Services provides exceptional customer service, and excels in classifying, filing and retrieving documents.

Travel may be required between both the Middletown and Newburgh campuses for events as needed. Travel may also be required for conferences pertaining to Veteran Affairs trainings, policies and requirements.

Requirements:

Education Required:
Associate's degree or higher.
Experience Required: Two (2) years of experience in office administration in a fast-paced environment. Strong computer skills and familiarity with MS Office applications. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:

Community college or higher education experience.
Excellent oral and written communication skills; including the ability to speak and write effectively and to analyze, edit, review and interpret complex material.
Familiarity with working with Veteran educational benefits.
Ability to present complex information and data in coherent fashion.
Ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationships with supervising personnel, coworkers, all constituents and the public.
Perform well under pressure, within time constraints, with a high degree of accuracy, diplomacy and confidentiality.
Ability to coordinate office work flow while dealing with multiple projects and deadlines.
Able to work in a team-based environment.
Thorough knowledge of multi-phone lines systems; MS Office suite, Google suite.
Must be able to travel between the college's two campuses and other sites.
Bilingual Skills.

Salary: $48,075-$59,252 per annum, commensurate with experience. This is a full-time, 12 month, Staff & Chair, grade 40 position.
